The AET Virtual Study group will feature an expert from our own organization, Board Certified Educational Therapist Dianne Olvera, Ph.D.
Language processing is vital for organizing information for learning and overall school and life success. Dr. Olvera will explain how to recognize when our clients do not have this ability, and she will present her therapy, InterActive Speech techniques, from her book, Ask, Don’t Tell Six Easy Steps to Improving Communication, Self-Control and Interpersonal Relationships. Dr. Olvera has an active educational therapy practice in San Luis Obispo, and often teaches courses at Cal Poly. Her article with colleagues on “The Influence of Instruction Modality on Brain Activation in Teenagers With Nonverbal Learning Disabilities: Two Case Histories” was published in the Journal of Learning Disabilities last year.
